i've read the original article and again everything is pulled out of context just like the sun did with hleb and rosicky this summer , it seems that the press will punish foreign players if they to talk or give interview to any one but them. Arsenal should know better than allow their players to speak in foreign newspapper.
And lest we forget Cesc, Vela are taking french lesson as well. Please lets spare ourselves this issue.
Sometimes, the English press forget the financial and qualitative benefits of the Internationals to the EPL and to their English players. They cannot make up their minds whether to eat the foreign (Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Tottenham) cakes or to throw them away.
Wenger and Arsenal may be partial to French players (recruited from France, Africa and Europe) but the fact remains that it is more because of the quality of his scouting network in these places than for preferential or prejudicial reasons.
The fact remains that Arsenal Football Club (personified by Wenger) has done more to develop and pump quality English players (like Bentley, Pennant, Cole and Hoyte) to EPL than any other EPL club.
And the fact remains that Walcott, Ramsey and Wilshire are better off playing day-in day-out with the Arsenal Internationals than being in any other club (including ManU and Chelsea).
Indeed, the Arsenal dressing room is good for the young English boys who, if the truth be told, are relatively more provincial or parochial than their European counterparts. They get to develop a working knowledge of another European language (which put them well ahead of the rest of the English populace) and they may be less averse to venturing beyond their country's borders in their footballing future than their predecessors.
At the end of the day, the opinion and attitudes that matter are those of Walcott, Ramsey, Wilshire, etc and I don't see anywhere in the article the young boys were asked to comment on the matter one way or the other!!
So, there we have it: the English press, making another mountain out of a molehill at the expense of "foreigners" in EPL.
Ironically there isnt even a quote from theo.
Off the topic but useful site for anything related to the Gooners.
