POLL: Who was Arsenal's Man Of The Match against AZ Alkmaar
Arsenal cruised to victory over AZ Alkmar last night with a performance that rarely saw the Gunners having to switch into top gear.
But when they did we saw some great goals – notably Samir Nasri’s fantastic run through the visitors’ defence and lightning breakaway strikes for the second of Cesc Fabregas’s brace and a well finished move by Abou Diaby which was created by a dazzling defence splitting back heel by Eduardo.
Unfortunately we again gave away a late consolation, but with Wenger’s men noticeably easing back courtesy of a four goal cushion, it’s hard to find fault with a team which is now just a point away from certain qualification for the knock out stages of the Champions League.
It was gratifying to see that nobody had a stinker last night and Arsene Wenger’s rotation of midfielders seems to be paying dividends with everyone looking desperate to prove a point and win his place in the starting line up.
With that in mind there were a few candidates for Man Of The Match: Cesc Fabregas for his brace, Samir Nasri for a strong comeback, Kieran Gibbs for a faultless performance, William Gallas for a determined display and Thomas Vermaelen for his usual no nonsense display.
But that, my fellow Addicts, is up to you. Click on the 'read more' link below to view our poll and get voting...

How can you miss mentioning the name of Andrey Arshavin? For me, he was the 2nd most, if not the most, effective player on the field!
Nasri's fantastic run was the result of a pinpoint defence slitting pass by Arshavin. Diaby's goal was also the result of a run on the right flank followed by an accurate pass by Arshavin, wherein Diaby didn't have to break his stride. One of Fabregas' goals was also a result of an Arshavin assist!
Really bad article given that you missed mentioning Arshavin's superb performance!
Diaby was S-U-P-E-R-B!!!
How on earth did you miss that?!
Hard to chose a best player last night. Fabregas was fantastic, Arshavin had moments of brilliance. Thomas Vermaelen was also brilliant. Don't forget Song, who has been so good this year that people have stopped banging on about missing that defensive midfielder.
Great performance ....still need a world class keeper
Arshavin. 3 great assists.
Good performances all around, but Arshavin brilliantly set up 3. Great to see Nasri back. Cesc has never looked so hungry.
While Arshavin and Cesc were the best players out there today, I have to give the award to Diaby (who wasnt nearly as brilliant as either) just because it was one of his best performances in an Arsenal shirt. Hopefully, he is undergoing a Song-like transformation with his run in the team.
He only gave the ball away a few times and generally his passing was crisp (though far from world class)... huge improvement.
He was tough in the challenge and tracked back numerous times to help win the ball back.
He clearly has strength and power, which is something that our diminutive creative players lack.
He won a few headers on set plays and marked their tallest striker on corners... he should work on improving his accuracy with headers... could be a huge weapon for him.
Showed awesome pace and power to get into the box and score.
Arshavin was the best. No contest.
