Should Gooners care about the Ch*vs and Villa?
A gang of us Addicts are meeting tomorrow to watch the lunchtime game before the Gunners play Sunderalnd and it got me thinking about the big games of the weekend.
First of all, we have to win and Sunderland, while not exactly world beaters, are no mugs.
I hope Andrey Arshavin has the same impact on the rest of the players as Eduardo did during the week. I’m gutted that the Crozilian won’t be playing for a fortnight now and wish Wenger had taken him off earlier...but hindsight is a wonderful thing.
We shouldn’t assume we’re going to win, even if Arsène Wenger’s comments that we MUST focus on ourselves is the sensible thing to do.
But what of Ch*vski and Villa?
I get the feeling Villa are waning a little, but only a little. They have enough players who are on form to keep digging out results and with John Carew back, it gives them more attacking options.
The Ch*vs have, as RedNose said (I can’t believe I’m agreeing with him) shot themselves in the foot by sacking Big Phil Scolari but in Guus Hiddink they have had a shot in the arm, and that may help them.
Even with key players underperforming or injured, the Ch*vs have a decent squad capable of sustaining top four status if nothing else. The whole world of right-thinking football fans would love them to drop out and hopefully then Roman Abramovich would lose interest and cut his losses.
So I can’t make my mind up what I want to happen in the game at Villa Park so let’s see what you think.
Is a draw the best result because we gain on both teams?
Do we hope the Ch*vs win so Villa’s inexperienced side suffer a confidence denting?
Or do we hope Villa win so the Ch*vs realise a new manager isn’t going to mean an upturn in fortunes?
Vote HERE and let us know what you think.

Rite first of all i think only titinham fans should be called ch*vs but anyway i think a draw would be perfect...come you arsenal
Chelski have a much easier run in than Villa and a much bigger and better squad so Villa are the ones we are most likely to catch. They are playing Chelski, Liverpool, Everton, West Ham and Man Ure all fairly close to eachother whilst we have easier games like Sunderland, WBA and Fulham. Villa's players must be starting to get tired and I hope they beat CSKA Moscow so that their European exertions will also add to this. This is the period where Arsenal must keep winning and if we do then I am fairly confident we will still claim 4th spot.
A voted for a draw, but looking at Villa's upcoming slate of fixtures, I believe they have a good chance to drop major points in the next month. They've got Chelsea, Liverpool, United and Everton in four of their next seven matches. I was also thankful to see them eek out a draw against Moscow. It would be great to see them go far in the UEFA Cup...add a few more tough fixtures to tire them out.
Looks like you beat me to the punch Giblets!
I think we should stop worrying about Villa dropping points and concentrate on us picking up points. I don't necessarily think they are waning, they've stumbled recently but now have players back from injury and suspension and played well enough to win the game against Moscow on Wednesday. I personally hope that Chelsea rot continues and they finish below Everton
I'd say we need Chelsea to win.
Villa are 7 ahead and we dont play them again.
Chelsea are only 5 points ahead and they have to come to the Emirates in May and come up against Cesc, Rosicky(back by May?), Nasri, Walcott, Arshavin, Adebayor, Van Persie, and Eduardo, Clichy, Sagna..they'll get ripped.
Hope for a draw tho, if not then a Chelsea win. Then again if Villa win then our game against Chelsea, if won, will see us overtake them.
Any result is good for us, as long as we win. Fingers and toes crossed lads
I agree, but I think Arsenal winning their games goes without saying. The truth is, if the Gunners are going to finish in the top four, either Villa or Chelsea will have to stumble. I was only pointing out, in my opinion, which team is likely to do so. That being said, I too would like nothing better than to see Chelsea fall off the pace. I just don't think it is likely to happen.
What actually is worrying is that Villa's more difficult will allow them to take points off Liverpools and Man U
GoonerSooner, do you think Villa have the depth in the midfield and back to last?
Villa succeeding is also best for the England team with their strong English contingent. I can't see Guus working miracles at Chelsea they look shambolic to be fair!! I certainly think with our players coming back from injury were going to make good progress in the run in.
While Villa do have tough fixture coming up. We have ours in April. We will probable be above them in March but they will pass us again in April!
gary who gives a fuck about the england team arsenal is what i care about
Evidently not you sean you traitor cunt
MAP you are a muppet
Strange logic you apply their Red or Dead, if you think being passionate about my club and country makes me a muppet then so be it. It would appear your view is rather nonsensical
MAP, you're a muppet because you're assuming that everyone else here is English. And even if they are, I think you'll find that a lot of English football fans couldn't give a monkeys about Enger-land
As a Villa fan, you mugs ought to be worrying about how your own team is doing, imo.
We're fine in midfield fwiw, the worry is at the back, as we're down to our last realistic options.
Whatever happens (and I think we'll end up top 4, but it'll be close) you have to admit the season is better for the Sky 4 having some competition.
Villa - Chelski is massive, from our pov, a really decisive game for our season.
And fwiw, us Villa fans tend to think, us, Arse and Spuds are pretty much equal as clubs (history, not PL)
And Chelski are nowt, even when you look at their recent history.
It's nice to see that you are starting to take notice of Villa.
We have rode our luck at times by grinding out results when we were 2nd best.
But we have also slipped up by dropping points we shouldn't have like against Boro, Newcastle and Stoke.
Chelsea are the only team to outclass us this season and Saturday will be a benchmark of how our seson will pan out.
Arsenal have gotta win 3 more games than us to catch us so maybe you ought to set your sights on catching up with Chelsea before "gunning" for us and therefore I assume you will be cheering on the Villa tomorrow
I would say we're more likely to catch Villa 'cos Chelsea have a bigger and better squad and an easier run-in but rather than just looking at what we want, look at what's likely to happen. I'd say it's gonna be a draw because they're both good teams. Chelsea will be pumped up due to their new manager and Villa may be low on confidence due to their FA Cup loss or they may want to make amends for it.
I'd rather see Villa lose than Chelsea lose because Chelsea are a stronger team but a draw would be a good result as well. A Villa win would give them more confidence again and we don't want that, especially 'cos Chelsea are capable of bouncing back more than Villa.
Villa are a very good team but Chelsea are a great team so based on just quality I'd worry more about Chelsea than Villa.
