Now.

I may be jumping the gun here, but I've never known an incident where every single national newspaper misquotes a player and the fact that Whinging Willie has previous form when it comes to falling out with his colleagues, manager and club, doesn't help his plight.

Again, this is only my opinion, but Gallas is not good enough to be Arsenal's captain. He might make a decent club skipper elsewhere, but not for the Gunners.

For those of you don't know what he said about his Arsenal team mates, click here to got to our newspaper round-up.

The basic gist of it is: our young players aren't brave enough to compete; there is a senior player in the team who disrespects his fellow players; there was a dressing room fight between players at half time in the 4-4 draw with Tottenham; and if Arsenal don't win a trophy this season our valiant captain will leave the club.

But as angry as I am this morning, I'm interested to gauge what the feeling among you Gooners is toward the man who is supposed to be our on-field leader. Personally I'd be quite happy if Gallas never wore the red and white of Arsenal ever again - he's not fit enough to be our captain and his lack of pace is woeful. He may have been a world class defender once upon a time, but those days are long gone.

For those not in the know, it was Theo's left shoulder this time and not the right one that he had surgery on before. He has a hereditary problem with his shoulder joints, so it kinda begs the question as to why they didn't operate on both around the same time? Sure he might have needed a lot of help during the early days of rehabilitation, but that's what WAGs are for, isn't it and he might not be looking at three months out now.

I digress.

With Walcott sidelined and Cesc Fabregas suspended for this weekend's trip to Man City, my poll for you today is rather simple: who do you think should take their starting places in the Arsenal team?

I've given you as many sensible options as I can think of - in other words I've tried to avoid using makeshift defenders in the centre of the park - and you can click on a couple of names, not just one.

Personally I think I'd go for Aaron Ramsey and Carlos Vela, with Ramsey playing alongside Denilson in the centre of the park, Vela going wide left and Abou Diaby playing on the right (he is right footed after all).

But it would also be good to see the likes of Jack Wilshere being unleashed for a Premier League fixture to see how he can handle the pressure, or even Fran Merida, who has been touted as a similarly capable player as Fabregas, although we're yet to see the evidence.

For the record, I reckon Arsene Wenger will play it safe and opt for Emmanuel Eboue, if he has recovered from his knee problem, and Alex Song.

One of the most important rules in life is loyalty. Family, friends, business - if one isn't loyal, then things will fall apart.

I admire Arsene Wenger enormously - as anyone who reads Veterans View will know. This man has done more for Arsenal in my life than any other single individual - and though I may not always agree with the great man who, in the nature of the football industry and how it works, is bound to be wrong more often than he is right, he has made some breathtaking decisions (about players and games) and brought us all some joyous moments.

In addition the notion of not being loyal to Arsenal is quite beyond me. And so I admire his notion of loyalty to his players.

As I read his praise for Bendtner mid-week, it was with a sense of both doubt and understanding.

But as I took my seat on Saturday against Villa, and heard the team, it was only with a sense of doubt. 4-5-1 versus Manchester United made total sense - particularly given the state of our injuries. But 4-5-1 versus Aston Villa - with NB upfront when Adebayour was fit was patently ridiculous.

This will be the last time for a while that I will write about Nicklas. The man is completely out of his depth running the line solo against a team who are clearly going to come to defend and hit us - brilliantly - on the counter.

Of our three league defeats at the Emirates, this was the first where we absolutely beaten. I have never seen us so poor - to the point where we could have lost 4-0 in a game where we made no - maybe one - chances…
